Profhilo vs Dermal Fillers: Which Is Right for You?

·4 min read

This is one of the questions I get asked most often at my clinic in Stoke-on-Trent: should I get Profhilo or dermal fillers? They both use hyaluronic acid, they are both injectable, and they both improve the way your skin looks. But the similarities end there. Understanding the difference helps you invest in the right treatment for your goals.

Profhilo is a skin-remodelling treatment. It does not add volume or structure. Instead, it floods the skin with ultra-pure hyaluronic acid that spreads beneath the surface to deeply hydrate, stimulate collagen production, and improve overall skin quality. Think of it as an investment in your skin's health and texture. After a course of two sessions (spaced four to six weeks apart), you will notice firmer, more hydrated skin with a natural glow. Fine lines soften, the skin looks plumper and more elastic, and that tired, crepe-like texture improves noticeably.

Dermal fillers, on the other hand, are designed to add volume, structure, and definition to specific areas of the face. Whether it is restoring lost volume in the cheeks, defining the jawline, smoothing nasolabial folds, or enhancing the lips, fillers are placed precisely where you need them. The results are immediate and targeted — you walk out looking visibly different in the treated area.

So who is each treatment best for? Profhilo is ideal if your main concern is overall skin quality rather than volume loss. If your skin feels dehydrated, looks a bit dull, or is starting to lose that youthful bounce and elasticity, Profhilo is brilliant. It is popular with clients in their thirties and forties who want to maintain great skin, as well as more mature clients who want to improve skin laxity in the face, neck, or hands.

Dermal fillers are the better choice if you want to address a specific structural concern — volume loss in the cheeks, a weak chin, an undefined jawline, or thinner lips. Fillers give you visible, targeted change in a single appointment, with results lasting anywhere from six to eighteen months depending on the area and product used.

Here is the question I love answering: can you have both? Absolutely. In fact, many of my clients benefit from a combination approach. Profhilo to improve the canvas — the quality, hydration, and texture of the skin — and fillers to add definition and volume where it is needed. It is one of the most effective combination strategies I offer at my clinic.

When it comes to cost, Profhilo is priced at around two hundred and thirty-nine pounds per session, with two sessions recommended for optimal results. Dermal fillers vary depending on the area and the amount of product required, typically starting from around one hundred and fifty pounds per ml. Both treatments are an investment, and I always recommend choosing based on your goals rather than price alone.

My approach at Nadia Skin and Aesthetics in Stoke-on-Trent is always to start with a proper consultation. I assess your skin, listen to what you want to achieve, and give you an honest recommendation. Sometimes clients come in asking for fillers when Profhilo would actually give them the result they are looking for — and vice versa. My job is to guide you towards what will genuinely work best for you, not to sell a treatment.

If you are unsure which is right for you, book a free consultation and let us work it out together. There is no pressure, no hard sell — just honest, experienced advice from someone who genuinely cares about your results.
